<p>	<strong>What is the Dukan Diet.</strong></span></p>
<p>	<strong><span style="font-size: 18px;">The marketing answer to that question is<br />
	The No 1 French medical diet (tie &quot;medical&quot; to the &quot;french&quot;, who are soooo thin drinking wine and eating cheese (sarcasm), with an animal protein rich diet for weight loss) and surely you &#39;ll have a market rave).</span></strong></p>

<p>	His own diet&rsquo;s high-protein, low-fat approach is organized into four phases: attack, cruise, consolidation and stabilization. The first encourages dieters to eat as much as they want of non-fatty, protein rich foods, including oat bran (a key component) washed down with oceans of water. The second stage introduces vegetables, but no fruit; the third brings with it two slices of bread, a serving of cheese and fruit and two servings of carbohydrates a day, with two weekly &ldquo;celebration&rdquo; meals with wine and dessert (the diet is French, after all); and the final stage six days a week of &ldquo;anything goes&rdquo; and one day of reversion to strict protein-only stage one &mdash; for the rest of your life.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 14px;">Whether you are on &quot;attack&quot; or &quot;cruise&quot;, this is anything but a lifestyle and you may just need the motivation of a wedding in front of 2,000,000,000 people to stay on it for weight loss for any significant period of time. Keep in mind why these diets are so popular; they work for weight loss, but they also compromise your health, throw your system out of balance, deplete your body of needed nutrients, and are not a way of eating for the rest of your life which guarantees you&#39;ll be dieting again. <br />

<p>How many bananas is too many bananas?</p>
<p>I don’t know but your body knows.</p>
<p>You can overdo and overeat the GOOD stuff too.  My partner, John Allen, and I talk about this concept all the time. Contrary to that popular belief that “<em>eating healthy doesn’t taste good and is boring” </em>reason/excuse that many people give for eating poorly, we&#8217;ve discovered that, actually the opposite is true. Nutrient Rich foods that include green vegetables, juicy fruit, nuts, seeds, beans are satisfying and delicious. They make you feel good too even after you eat them because you are getting the nutrients your body needs and wants.</p>
<p>We buy bunches of ripe bananas, peel ‘em and freeze ‘em. That way we can dump them in smoothies. They are so sweet and creamy that we make ice cream out of them.</p>
<p>Using our beloved Vitamix high powered blender, we add bananas, dates, natural unsweetened cacao powder, and walnuts and whip up a creamy delectable ice cream. It’s so good you <strong>can </strong>finish it off in one sitting. And if you don’t listen and stop, you can eat this ice cream until the whole thing is finished off and you bust!</p>
<p>The actual challenge we discovered is that nutrient rich “healthy” food is so good ~ you want to keep eating. And justification for this overeating comes easy – you can simply convince yourself that since it is healthy you can keep it coming.</p>
<p>Over the past two years as I started to eat more and more nutrient rich foods, I found myself gaining some unwanted pounds, and I didn’t do it by eating potato chips.  Nope. I ate too much of good things. Grant it there were emotional eating situations going on as well, however, I figured I was eating healthy foods so it didn’t matter.  But it does matter. Too many bananas is too many bananas. I was certainly eating for health but overeating even healthy foods is not a healthy idea.</p>
<p>Nutrient rich food is truly yummy. I can’t say enough about Dr. Fuhrman’s EAT FOR HEALTH 2 book set. Book 2 is full of amazing recipes. I started to experiment and cook up these recipes and was truly wowed by the ease it took and the taste that exploded. You should try a recipe or two. I recommend the healthy chocolate cake on page 262. It’s literally made with vegetables but you wouldn’t know it unless I spilled the beans. I guarantee if you have the “<em>healthy food doesn’t taste good”</em> mentality – eating this cake will flip that switch off immediately.<br />
When you start eating nutrient rich, amazing things happen to your health. You give your body the true nutrients it needs to function and perform well. You feel really good and energetic. You’ll want to eat this way and your body will start craving the good stuff.</p>
<p>But how do you know when enough is enough, when you’ve had enough and when you should stop?  There is no complicated answer here. It’s actually the simplest concept you probably ever heard.  LISTEN. Listen to the signs and eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full.</p>
<p>These “simple” rules are key to nutrient rich living and eating and <strong>natural weight loss –</strong> <strong>eat only when you hungry and stop when you are full.</strong> That will be the sure fire way of not overdosing on one too many bananas. Your body doesn’t want one too many bananas and it will give you signals to stop. Your body knows best – when it has had enough – it lets you know &#8211; you just need to LISTEN.</p>
<p>Can you spend today just taking the time to notice how you feel before a meal?  If you are not really hungry, wait a bit longer to eat.  As you are eating notice how your stomach feels. Do you feel satisfied? Can you stop now? It takes practice to hear and notice your body&#8217;s signals but once you connect and the more you listen, the more you will hear and you <strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">will</span></strong> naturally lose weight.</p>

<p><strong>DrFuhrman&#8217;s Prescription for Improving and Maintaining Great Health: Nutritional Excellence</strong></p>
<p><strong>The quality of a diet can be based on three simple criteria:</strong></p>
<p>1. <strong> Levels of micronutrients</strong> (vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals) per calorie.</p>
<p>2.  <strong>Amounts of macronutrients</strong> (fat, carbohydrate, protein) to meet individual needs, without excessive calories that may lead to weight gain or health compromise.</p>
<p>3. <strong>Avoidance of potentially toxic substances</strong> (such as trans fats) and limited amounts of other potentially harmful substances (such as sodium).</p>
<p>Before I created Nutrient Rich.com, Dr. Fuhrman created The Health Equation: H=N/C or Health = Nutrients/Calories (first published in 1999 in his work, The Health Equation and later described in more detail in his book, Eat To Live) to define how the quality of calories impacts health.</p>
<p>This equation means your future health can be predicted by the micronutrient per calorie density of your diet. <p><strong>Eating low nutrient foods fuels overeating behavior.</strong></p>
<p>Last, but not least, <strong><a rel="external nofollow" href="http://www.drfuhrman.com/default.aspx?a_aid=11247849">DrFuhrman</a></strong><strong> </strong>&#8216;s unique contribution to the science of nutritional care, disease reversal and weight loss is his explanation of the physiology behind hunger and food cravings.</p>
<p>It is important to recognize that nutrient poor eating (and toxic eating) leads to increased cellular toxicity with undesirable levels of free radicals and advanced glycation end products (AGE&#8217;s), lipfusion, lipid A2E and other toxins that contribute to the development of chronic disease. His findings are that these toxic substances lead to addictive withdrawal symptoms (toxic hunger) which result in the desire to eat more frequently and overeat. Low nutrient eating, therefore, establishes a mechanism that leads to food addictions and food cravings that can&#8217;t be ignored. This is the reason why calorie counting diets fail. Without addressing dietary quality, excess food cravings are almost impossible to ignore.</p>
<p>Fortunately the drive to over-consume calories is blunted by high micronutrient, high food antioxidant, (NutrientRich food) consumption and the symptoms that people thought were hypoglycemia or even hunger, simply disappear after following his dietary recommendations. Not only do people lose the symptoms of fatigue, headaches, irritability and stomach cramping, but they get back in touch with true hunger felt in the throat, which simply makes eating more pleasurable and directs them to a more appropriate amount of calories for their body&#8217;s biological needs.</p>
<p>In a portion controlled (calorie counting) diet it is likely that the body will not get adequate fiber or micronutrients. The body will have a compounded sensation of hunger and cravings which for most is simply overwhelming. It invariably results in people either being unable to lose weight or unable to keep the weight off and eventually gaining it back. The biochemistry and physiology behind food cravings are more thoroughly explained in Dr. Fuhrman&#8217;s books and lectures, but without a thorough understanding of these principles weight loss attempts are typically doomed to fail.</p>

<p>Well, that was yet again, my experience last night when I used DrFuhrman&#8217;s VegiZest product &#8211; which is the ultimate soup base and seasoning mix. </p>

<p>It was 7:00 PM, I was just sitting down to read a book, but wanted to sip something. <strong>At night, I like to go to be satisfied, but not full.</strong> So what I did was heat some water, and put in a tablespoon of VegiZest and I had a great broth that was &#8220;nutrient rich&#8221;.
