This is absolutely fascinating information. However I wonder WHY the body craves something that isn't good for it. Why doesn't it more naturally crave the nutrients and minerals it needs? I understand our hard wiring for sugar (means a fruit is sweet and can be eaten), but excessive salts? Refined carbs? Fatty foods (I mean, c'mon, fat has little or no taste and yet we crave it)? If foods that aren't good for us give us a dopamine (or similar hormonal) charge, why doesn't the stuff that's good for us have the same effect?
Thanks for the awesome blog.
