A former bodybuilder, amateur athlete, and graduate of the eCornell plant-based nutrition program, John Allen has gained vast knowledge and experience in plant-based nutrition by experimenting in diverse diets, with an open mind over many years. These diets have included, but are not limited to the following: the Standard American Diet (SAD), traditional fitness and weight loss diets, vegetarian and vegan eating programs. In recent years he has stepped fully in the nutrient rich way of eating, that focuses on maximizing nutrients per calorie, requiring less calorie consumption, and resulting in more energy, greater health and longevity potential. Through this evolutionary journey, the 4 Step Nutrient Rich® Healthy Eating Plan was developed.

In 2009, John co-authored the book, "The Curse of the Capable", with Harvard psychologist, Arthur Ciaramicoli, Ph.D. (Foreword by Superbowl MVP, Phil Simms), which addresses how to change the unsupportive stories people generate that promote addictive behaviors, prevent them from changing their lifestyle, being more productive and achieving their goals in a balanced and healthy way.
