Why would you need supplements eating Nutrient Rich?

Aren't all the nutrients you need in the food you are eating?

Basic logic would say that a Nutrient Rich Diet should give you all the nutrients you need to succeed. We believe that is true, especially since you only use a small amount of the food you consume to begin with and that if we chewed our food better we would get even more nutrients.

We don't subscribe the myth that our soils are so depleted that you need live on supplements.

Yes, organic farming is much better and according to Dr. Fuhrman the nutrients available in organically grown foods are far superior and more plentiful, but if you can't get organically grown produce, you'll still do fine with the conventionally grown and far better than if you were not be eating a nutrient rich diet.

So the question begs to be asked, why would you need any form of supplements?

Here are the top 10  situations where taking a supplement can make sense.

  1. When you have special situations like dealing with an ultra picky child who's not used to better food, because of prior eating habits, taking a supplement makes sense!
  2. When there is a crisis situation such as ultra high cholesterol and you want a natural way to aid dietary improvement in reducing your cholesterol faster.
  3. If you're not yet eating Nutrient Rich in a predominant way, you may want to supplement.
  4. If you have a deficiency or low nutrient levels, for unusual / medical reasons or are completely vegan and need to supplement vitamin B 12.
  5. If your diet style does not provide diversity.
  6. If you don't get enough sun or are not in the sun long enough or keep washing off the vitamin D production in the shower.
  7. In some cases for athletic performance reasons.
  8. When you're in transition
  9. Your used to refined food and need to initially add a powder to your smoothie for a more refined taste
  10. Allergy situations.
  11. If you simply want assurance.
  12. If your blood test from a competent doctor says so!
  13. If you are not producing or eating enough omega three fatty acids or don't want to eat fish so you can get DHA and EPA.

I actually use a supplemental powder on one of my breakfast meals, not because I need the nutrients but because I like the taste it adds to my Power Bowl which I eat for breakfast. I learned it from my buddy Jonny Hinds.

In response to specific situations and others, where supplementation does make sense, we only refer to Dr Fuhrman (one of the pioneers of "nutrient density" and creator of the ANDI aggregate nutrient density index) who has put together the finest supplement solutions in the market for those eating Nutrient Rich (click on eating healthy); based on the most current science available to ensure quality standards, needed nutrients, better health.

The main reason we refer to Dr Fuhrman, is that he only recommends supplements for specific situations, and does not see them as being responsible for health; his focus is nutritional excellence. He is also a true expert.
